The lung is the most common site of cancer and smoking is the leading risk factor. Many cancers also spread to the lung including breast, colon and prostate. 85 % of the time when lung cancer causes symptoms patients are incurable. The only way to cure lung cancer is with surgery. This is most often due to other serious health conditions or poor lung function which makes patients inoperable (not surgical candidates). For these patients, minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures can help reduce pain and improve quality of life.
